At 2 a.m. Sunday, Middletown paramedics were called to the jail to administer Narcan to Sparkman, police said.

Police found a piece of paper with a gray rock-like substance on the top bunk of Sparkman’s jail cell, according to the report. He told police he got the substance from a friend.

The substance, which weighed .13 grams, tested positive for fentanyl and heroin, police said.

Sparkman had been arrested on a bench warrant and drug abuse/heroin charges were then added. He also faces charges in Brown County.

He will appear in Middletown Municipal Court later this month.
