Dougherty was traveling westbound on High Street and was in the far right turn only lane, but went straight through the intersection, according to Hamilton police Sgt. Brian Robinson.
Dougherty hit the curb and lost control of his motorcycle, which skidded about 250 feet, Robinson said.
“He then went somewhere between 100 and 150 feet after he was separated from the motorcycle,” he said.
Dougherty was not wearing a helmet, police said.
He was airlifted to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where as of late Tuesday he remained unconscious and in critical condition, according to Robinson.
“The diagnosis at this time is unknown in terms of whether or not he’s going to live,” he said. “He suffered some serious injuries from that accident that were visible.”
Speed was a factor in the crash, and police said they are investigating the possibility of alcohol contributing to the accident.
