Guns, clothes, blood samples taken from Middletown home

Middletown police searched the Ellis Way home where Anthony “Tony” Shearer was shot dead, allegedly by his ex-wife, and found a stash of guns, according to court records.

Among the 17 items taken as evidence by police were five guns, including one musket.

Seized from the Shearer residence were:

  • 9mm pistol
  • High Point 9 mm rifle
  • .50 cal musket
  • Springfield 9mm
  • 9mm casing
  • Taurus gun box
  • broken gun cleaning box
  • black gun case
  • cell phone
  • swab of blood on floor inside living room
  • suspected blood sample from door frame
  • black pants and socks
  • black T-shirt
  • dirty rag out of kitchen trash can
  • cigarette
  • wallet

Dawn Rachel Shearer, 46, was arraigned Wednesday in Middletown Municipal Court for murder. Police say Dawn Shearer shot Tony in the head Monday night.

Middletown Municipal Court Judge Mark Wall signed search warrants three hours after the fatal shooting to take oral swabs for DNA comparison and a hand swab to determine gunshot residue from Dawn Shearer.
