Franklin emergency crews rescued a woman who was seen jumping into the Great Miami River from the riverbank this afternoon.

Police Chief Russell Whitman said officers found the woman floating down the river near Eighth Street.

Two officers stripped their duty gear off and put on life jackets as fire rescue crews tethered the officers with rope so they could wade into the river to reach the woman, who was trying to avoid rescue, police said.
