Fairfield police investigate break-in, sexual assault

Fairfield Police are investigating a break-in and sexual assault that reportedly occurred at an apartment this past weekend.

At around 6:45 a.m. March 19 a man entered an apartment on Hollyhock Court through a front window, according to police.

A 32-year-old male resident was tied up after a confrontation, police said, and the suspect sexually assaulted a 37-year-old female occupant.

The male victim eventually escaped and called police at a nearby business.

The suspect had fled the apartment by the time police arrived.

The male victim had minor injuries from the incident, but the female was transported to Mercy Hospital-Fairfield with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect was described as possibly Hispanic, about 5-foot-6, and skinny.

The case remains under investigation.
