Fairfield event center’s sudden closing leaves some brides scrambling

A Fairfield events venue unexpectedly shuttered its doors, leaving some local couples upset and scrambling to find a new wedding venue.

The Fairfield Banquet and Convention Center at Tori’s Station, 74 Donald Drive, has closed for business effective immediately, officials with the company confirmed Monday.

“We are in the process of making full refunds and contacting other places to assist on relocation of upcoming weddings,” according to a statement from the company.

Jenny Dexter from the city of Fairfield, said the city’s economic development team had not gathered information on the closing, but was looking to find out more information.

“We have not been able to contact them and don’t have any further information on the closing,” Dexter said.

A wave of social media posts from people planning their weddings and other special events at the venue grew over the weekend and swelled into Monday, prompting a response from the business’s management.

Many of the complaints on social media centered around phone calls that had not been returned during normal business hours. This media outlet visited the business and found the door closed during morning and afternoon hours that had been listed as being “open for operation.”

Kayla Marsh of Receptions in Fairfield, a company that provides similar services, said the business is trying to help those who were booked at the Fairfield Banquet and Convention Center.

“We are doing everything we can to help brides find a date and similar package at our venue,” Marsh said.
