Middletown paramedics worked diligently to save the life of a dog trapped in a Middletown house fire this afternoon.

Several paramedics gave the dog oxygen in the front yard of a house in the 3000 block of Bexley Drive. A woman arrived a short time later, jumped out of her car and screamed: “My dog.”

She was met by paramedics and police officers, then allowed to comfort her dog. The dog was wrapped in a blanket and a cage was nearby.

The woman was visibly upset. About 15 minutes later, the dog, showing life, was carried by a firefighter to an emergency vehicle and transported to a local veterinarian.

It appeared the house suffered smoke damage.
