Man, 83, knocked down by biker, robbed at Smith Park, police said

An 83-year-old Middletown man told police that while he was walking Sunday afternoon at Smith Park, he was knocked to the ground and robbed of $200, a credit card and his driver’s license.

The man told police he was walking on a trail at the city park when a man, described in his 20s, wearing dark clothes and riding a dark BMX bike, came up behind him and knocked him to the ground.

The suspect removed the man’s wallet from his pants, then fled on his bike, crossing the access bridge near the Canal Museum, according to the police record.

Police said the man suffered abrasions on his knees.

Police located a partial shoe print near the attack.

Two witnesses gave police similar descriptions of the suspect.

Middletown police said no arrests have been made and officers are searching for the suspect.
