Butler County man indicted in car crash that killed wife of 4 months

Kenneth Cyrek had fentanyl in his system and was driving under suspension, police say.

A Butler County grand jury has indicted a Trenton man on multiple counts after his wife died in a car crash.

On Aug. 4, Kenneth Cyrek, 38, of Trenton, was driving a 1993 Honda Del Sol east on Canal Road in Fairfield Twp. when the vehicle veered right off the road and struck a metal utility pole. His wife of four months, Kyla Cyrek, 26, was killed in the crash.

Cyrek was indicted today on two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, one count of aggravated vehicular homicide and one count of vehicular manslaughter.

Fairfield Twp. Capt. Doug Lanier said each count corresponds to an alleged violation of the law.

Fairfield Twp. police said a blood test indicated Kenneth Cyrek’s blood-alcohol level was over the legal limit, and he had fentanyl in his system. Cyrek was also driving “under several open driving suspensions, which elevated the degree of the offenses,” according to police.

Police said he is also in custody on a probation violation related to child support.

Cyrek is in the Butler County Jail. He is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Oct. 16, according to court records.
