Reynolds and Reynolds lays off 20

Staff Report

Friday, September 05, 2008

DAYTON — About 20 Reynolds and Reynolds employees were laid off from the company's Technical Assistance Center in downtown Dayton Thursday, a company spokesman said.

Center employees, based on West Second Street, answer customer phone calls regarding Reynolds' software and services. The company serves auto dealerships with business management software and more.

Thomas Schwartz, a Reynolds spokesman, attributed the layoffs to an "ongoing evaluation of the business" as well as auto market conditions.

"I think generally the entire industry is going through some changes," Schwartz said.

He said affected employees will be eligible for benefits.

In July, Reynolds announced that it would move the center's operations to its Miami Valley Research Park campus off County Line Road and Research Boulevard. The downtown center has about 400 employees. The company has about 1,100 employees in Kettering, 500 in Celina and more than 6,000 workers overall.
