A famous frog once said it's not easy being green, and he was right.

The RTA has had "being green" down for a while now — hasn't public transportation always been the way to go? — and it's ready to make environmental responsibility a little easier with the first Live Green Fest, bringing together environmental leaders, activists, businesses and organizations, all of which are dedicated to the green way of life and ready to share what they know.

The free event takes place today, Aug. 24, at Carillon Park, from 1 to 6 p.m.

"Live Green Fest is about highlighting solutions to help overcome the environmental challenges we face today," said Greater Dayton RTA executive director Mark Donaghy. "By bringing together live music, education, and a wide range of organizations dedicated to improving our quality of life and the environment we live in our region's most prominent park, we hope to draw significant attention to one of the most important issues of our time."

The RTA is hoping Live Green will become an annual event This year's festival will feature organic foods arts displays, environmental messages — favorite local band Shrug will perform after taking RTA buses to the park.
