Upcoming career fair features 100 employers, thousands of jobs

A career fair that features 100 employers from across the region and state offering thousands of jobs comes to Warren County this week.

The regional OhioMeansJobs.com Career Fair is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Great Wolf Lodge Conference Center, 2501 Great Wolf Drive, Mason.

More than 100 employers from diverse fields — including manufacturing, customer service, finance, retail, health care, hospitality, logistics and more — will be on site to meet with job seekers of all skill levels, age ranges and experience levels. Veterans will receive identification cards to be easily identified by employers.

The event is free to employers and job seekers and registration is required at the door. Door prizes will be provided by participating employers.

“As Ohio’s economy grows, the demand for workers grows,” said Angela Terez, spokeswoman for the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, which is presenting the event along with OhioMeansJobs offices out of Butler, Clermont and Warren counties and the Workforce Investment Board Butler-Clermont-Warren. “Events like these are a great way to bring together employers who need workers and workers looking to build their careers.”

Among the employers at the career fair will be ThyssenKrupp Bilstein of America Inc. in Hamilton, which is looking to hire 40 full-time employees for a mix of hourly and salaried openings, according to spokeswoman Danika Kmetz.

“We are looking to fill a wide range of positions, including assembler, welder, buyer, machinist, supplier quality engineer, material handler, process engineer, quality engineer, manufacturing engineering manager, tooling engineer, operational excellence manager and value stream engineers for Logistics and Procurement,” Kmetz said.

Other employers scheduled to be at the career fair are StarTek, Kroger, Atrium Medical Center, Festo, Intelligrated, Amstan Logistics, Koch Foods, Mercy Health, Takumi Stamping, Kings Island, Miami Valley Gaming, Holiday Inn of West Chester, First Financial Bank and many more.

ODJFS cosponsors events like the career fair regularly with most attended by anywhere from 60 to 100 employers, Terez said.

“Employer registration for this event was capped at 100 for space reasons,” she said. “We actually have a waiting list.”

Job seekers are advised to "dress for success" and bring several copies of their resumes to give to employers, she said. In addition, job fair ambassadors will be on hand to offer one-on-one assistance to attendees. The ambassadors can review and print resumes, suggest job-hunting and interviewing tips, and explain all the services available at local OhioMeansJobs centers and at OhioMeansJobs.com.

On any given day, OhioMeansJobs.com lists more than 120,000 job openings across Ohio, and about half pay more than $50,000 per year, Terez said.
